What Josh thought would be the dullest summer of his life, spent with his eccentric aunt, turns chilling when he meets the ghost of a coal miner killed in a mine explosion. Willie has been waiting years for some kind soul to dig up his leg and rebury it with the rest of him--only then will he be at peace. Josh agrees to do the grisly deed, but when he digs in the old cemetery, he finds more than Willie's leg bones. Who buried the box of cash in the grave, and why? How far will that person go to get the money back?

The eternal struggle of the rebel against the inflexible
rules and regulations of the "establishment" is more than entertaining...
it creates even greater awareness of the worth of the individual in today's
impersonal society. These values have garnered awards for Peg Kehret and this
thoroughly engrossing play. The Happy Hollow Rest Home brings together a variety
of delightful characters, all of whom want more from life than their restricted
existence allows. When 83 year-old Clara begins taking hula lessons, holding
seances and sending out for pepperoni pizza, the other residents are overjoyed...
and the manager is dismayed. Simply set in Clara's room, the play adroitly combines
with wisdom as a young aide, a lawyer and a policeman join forces to ensure
that Happy Hollow's group spirit is allowed to grow. From the hilarious poker
party to the touching final scene, this play offers charm, insight and heart-warming
humor.

Late one night Pete the cat sees a burglary in progress next door. He awakens Alex and his friend, Rocky, in time for them to see the suspicious vehicle drive away.
The burglars return to Alex's house the next day. When Alex's little brother, Benjie, hears Pete screeching inside the thieves' van, he confronts the thugs, who throw Pete out but kidnap Benjie!
While Benjie uses his wits to try to save himself, Pete helps Alex and Rocky discover the clues that will lead to Benjie's rescue.
Pete's escapades will have
readers laughing and cheering in this fast-paced adventure story about the importance
of family and friends.
Alex's family is one of the first to move to a new housing development. Two local bullies make life at school miserable for Alex. His only friend is Pete, his cat. Unknown to Alex, Pete understands English perfectly, although his own speech sounds like plain old "meow."
When a boy his age moves in next door, Alex hopes he will become a friend. Rocky, however, is evasive about his past and does not accept Alex's invitations. Soon after Rocky arrives, street signs are cut down and an arson fire destroys a home in the development. Why does Rocky avoid Alex and Alex's little brother, Benjie? Is he to blame for the trouble? Or is there another, more sinister, explanation?
Told partly by Pete, THE STRANGER NEXT DOOR has humor, danger, and plenty of suspense as two boys - one with a deadly secret - discover how important friends, both human and feline, are.
